How the session breakout works
At the session time you set, the EA defines a reference candle then places a buy stop above it and a sell stop below it. The first order to trigger becomes the open trade and the other pending order is cancelled. The EA manages the open trade with a pip-based stop loss and take profit, typically targeting about three times the risk.
If a trade hits its stop loss, the EA can optionally arm an opposite stop order to attempt a recovery. It can also move the stop to break even after a configured number of pips in profit.
What you need to set
Enter the session start time and the candle close time for the market you trade, and adjust both for your broker server offset. Getting these wrong often makes the EA use the wrong candle or miss signals.
Choose instrument-specific pip sizes for SL and TP. Indices and metals are spread-sensitive at open, so use a low-spread account and a VPS for stable execution.
- US indices and USD instruments: session around 13:30 GMT, reference candle 13:29 GMT (adjust for broker offset).
- European currencies and CHF: session around 07:30 GMT.
- Asian session instruments: session around 00:30 GMT.
- AUD/NZD tied markets: session around 21:30 GMT.
