Gold Strike EA is a fully automated expert advisor for MetaTrader 4, and it trades gold on the M5 chart only. The MT4 package here is free.

The logic is a breakout. The EA marks a zone on the M5 chart, parks a buy stop above it and a sell stop below, then waits. If price arrives with force the order fills, the initial stop sits 150 points away, and once the trade is 70 points up the stop starts following price in 5 point steps. Most trades open and close inside a minute.

There is no grid and no martingale, and the EA never averages down. Lot size stays fixed, and the stop loss is a real order held by your broker rather than a level the EA remembers in its own memory. Speed has a price, and the price is that the EA is picky about where it runs. It skips entries while gold spread is above 20 points, and it allows only 3 points of slippage on a pending fill.

Check your gold spread before anything else. The EA has a maximum spread of 20 points, roughly 20 cents on gold, and it will not place orders above that. On a standard account gold often sits at 30 to 50 points or wider, so the EA can look broken when it is only obeying the filter. Watch the spread through a full London session first. If it stays high, this EA is not a fit for that account.

How a trade starts

The EA does not try to call direction. It marks a price zone on the M5 gold chart, then places a buy stop above it and a sell stop below it, roughly 70 to 100 points away. Price either gets there with momentum or it does not. When the zone stops making sense the pending orders are deleted and placed again.

That distance is the filter. A slow drift into the level never reaches the order, so the EA sits out the pushes that have no follow through. It also refuses a fill more than 3 points away from the price it asked for, so a bad fill during a spike gets declined instead of accepted.

The trailing stop does the exiting

Once a position is open the EA stops thinking about targets and starts moving the stop. Trailing begins at 70 points of profit. From there the stop follows price in 5 point steps, which on gold is 5 cents at a time, and in a fast candle that means dozens of stop modifications inside the same second. That is why the EA is so sensitive to latency.

So almost every trade ends with the trailing stop catching price rather than a take profit being hit, and time in the market averages around a minute. The 150 point initial stop covers the other case, a breakout that dies right after the fill. It is tight on purpose. Because it is a real order on the broker, a disconnect does not leave the position unprotected.

What the EA needs from your setup

Most complaints about this EA are really complaints about the account it was put on. Get these four things right before you judge the logic.

  • An ECN or raw spread account where gold stays under 20 points during the sessions you trade
  • A VPS. A dropped connection during an open trade freezes the trailing stop where it was
  • Low latency to the broker server, since the stop is being modified continuously
  • At least 100 USD recommended, more if you want room to sit through a losing run

With a scalper this fast your broker decides the result at least as much as the logic does, so a chart of somebody else's account tells you very little about yours. Run it on demo with the same broker and account type you intend to use live. Over two or three weeks, log how often gold spread crosses 20 points and blocks an entry, how many pending orders fill within 3 points of where they were placed, and how deep the drawdown gets. If entries are being skipped through most of the London session, the account is wrong for this EA and no input will fix it.

  2. Before you attach anything, watch gold spread in Market Watch through a London session. Above 20 points the EA stays idle, so move to an ECN or raw account first
  3. Open XAUUSD on M5, attach the EA and leave the defaults alone: 150 point stop, trailing from 70 points, maximum spread 20, all three sessions on
  4. Run it on demo for at least two weeks, on the broker and account type you plan to trade live, and note the fills, the skipped entries and the worst drawdown
  5. For fewer trades, switch the Asia session off first and keep London and New York
  6. Move the EA to a VPS near your broker's server before you go live, so it stays connected while a trade is being trailed

Gold Strike EA is for a trader who already has a low spread gold account and a VPS, and who wants one narrow system instead of a robot with ten modes. The risk side is plain: a single position, fixed lots, a real stop on the broker, and nothing that averages into a loss. If you are on a standard account, or running MT4 on a home PC that goes to sleep, this is the wrong tool, and the slower EAs in the AutoFXRebate library will treat you better.
