How to tell whether your account has an IB attached

Knowing that an IB share exists is one thing. Finding out whether your own account has one attached is a different question, and the answer is not printed anywhere obvious.

Your broker will not volunteer this

Open your trading terminal and you will find your balance, your leverage, your account type and your trade history. You will not find a line saying who introduced you. That field exists on the broker's side of the account, and most platforms simply do not surface it.

This is not a conspiracy. It is a field that matters to the broker's accounting and almost never to the trader, so nobody built a screen for it.

The result is that a large number of traders have no idea whether anything is being paid on their volume, or to whom.

Three ways to find out

Ask the broker directly. Open the support chat and ask which partner your account is registered under. Most brokers answer this without argument, because it is your account and the information is not sensitive. Ask for the partner code or partner ID, not just a yes or no.

Check your registration. If you opened the account through a link or typed a partner code during signup, that is your answer. If you went straight to the broker's homepage and signed up there, the usual outcome is that no IB is attached.

Use a checker. Our [account checker](/ib-check) answers one narrow question: whether the account is in the AutoFXRebate network. That is a useful answer, and it is important to understand what it does not say.

What a checker can and cannot tell you

This is where people get misled, so it is worth being exact.

A result of "not found" means the account is not in our network. It does not mean the account has no IB. It does not mean nothing is being paid on your trades. Your account may sit under a different partner entirely, or directly with the broker.

ResultWhat it provesWhat it does not prove
Found in the networkThe account is under our IBNothing about past trades
Not foundThe account is not under our IBThat no IB exists, or that nobody is paid

Any tool that turns "I cannot see it" into "it does not exist" is overstating what it knows. Ours is written to say the narrow thing.

What to do with the answer

If your account has no IB, you have a choice to make and it is genuinely a choice: leave it, attach to any IB you like, or attach to one that returns the share. The mechanism is the same in every case, and [changing your partner](/transfer-ib) does not touch your balance or your open positions.

If your account already sits under a partner who returns nothing to you, that is worth knowing too. You are not being cheated; you are simply not being paid, which is a different and more fixable problem.

Whatever you decide, do it before you trade the volume, not after. The share is calculated per trade as trades close, and no arrangement is applied backwards.
