What are rebates? Understand them in 30 seconds
A rebate is the commission the broker pays to its introducing partner, pushed back to you per lot. You pay no extra fees and your trading conditions stay the same.
The short definition
Rebates are the introducing commission the broker returns to you, counted per lot traded. You still pay the same spread and commission, nothing extra is added, and your trading conditions do not change. The only difference is that after each lot, part of what you paid comes back. Winning and losing trades both count, because a rebate follows volume rather than outcome. For anyone trading regularly this is the one line in the cost table you can lower without changing how you trade.
Where the rebate comes from
The money comes from nowhere but the cost you already paid. On every trade the broker collects spread or commission, and shares part of it with the introducing broker who brought the client in. That is how every forex broker pays its distribution channel, and it happens whether you know about it or not. If your account is tied to no IB, the broker simply keeps that share. AutoFXRebate is an official IB for its partner brokers, and instead of keeping that commission we push most of it back to you. There is no catch: you are getting back part of what you already paid.
How rebates are calculated
The rate is set per lot and per account type, because each type has a different cost structure. A raw-spread account with commission carries a different per-lot rate from a wider-spread account with none, so do not compare two numbers unless they describe the same type. The instrument matters too: gold and other wide-spread pairs usually carry more than the majors. The fastest way to learn your own number is the trade calculator: pick the broker, the account type and the pair, then enter the volume you actually trade in a month. What it shows is an estimate computed from the rate in force, not an advertised headline.
Who pays you
The broker holds the money and the broker pays it. AutoFXRebate never takes your funds, never holds a balance for you, and never asks for your trading password. Our job is to check the volume you traded against the broker's own report and make sure the rebate lands in your account. Because the money moves straight from the broker, you are not depending on an intermediary staying solvent. You can check the link yourself at any time: the account checker tells you whether your account is earning rebates, and all it needs is the account number.
How to receive rebates
There are two ways in, depending on whether you already have an account. If you do not, open one through the AutoFXRebate link and you are done: rebates attach from your first trade. If you already trade with a partner broker, ask them to move your IB, which means changing the partner code in your client area. Moving your IB does not touch your balance, your trade history or your trading conditions. Once the broker confirms, open a new MT4/MT5 account and trade on that one: rebates only count trades placed after the transfer, and trades on the old account are not paid. Some brokers ask that no position is open at the time, so close out first. Once the broker confirms, rebates run automatically per lot with nothing more for you to do.
