Breakeven
本頁目前僅提供英文版。
Breakeven is the point at which a trade covers its own costs and closes at zero. Because you pay the spread and any commission when you open, price must first move your way by that many pips. A rebate cuts the net cost and moves breakeven closer.
Open a trade and the profit column is negative straight away. The breakeven point is how far price has to move in your favour before that number reaches zero.
The rebate and breakeven lesson works through two full examples.
How to calculate breakeven
Work per lot, in your account currency. Net cost per lot = spread cost + commission minus rebate. Breakeven distance = net cost per lot ÷ pip value per lot.
The formula covers trading costs only. Swap on a position held overnight, and any slippage, push breakeven further away.
A worked example
Take one lot of EUR/USD on a USD account with an illustrative 2.0 pip spread and no commission. A pip is worth $10, so the cost is $20.00 and breakeven is 2.0 pips away.
Now add the $8.10 per lot rebate AutoFXRebate listed for EUR/USD on XM Standard on 30 October 2026. Net cost is $20.00 minus $8.10 = $11.90, and breakeven is $11.90 ÷ $10 = 1.19 pips.
The rebate arrives after the lot closes, so your platform still shows the full 2.0 pip cost while the trade is open. The trading calculator runs the same sum for your pair and account type.
常見問題
What does moving a stop to breakeven mean?
It means moving your stop loss to the entry price once a trade is in profit. If price turns back, the trade closes near zero, though commission and slippage can still leave a small loss.
Does a rebate change my breakeven?
Yes. It lowers the net cost per lot, so once the rebate is paid, price needs to have moved fewer pips for the trade to cover its costs.

IB commissionIB commission is what a broker pays an introducing broker per lot its clients trade. The broker funds it from the spread and fees it already earns, so the trader pays nothing extra. A rebate is a share of it.
Trading bonusA trading bonus is promotional credit a broker adds to your account. It is usually sized to your deposit and often comes with conditions, such as a volume target before withdrawal, and can be removed when you withdraw. A rebate is cash and carries no such conditions.
