Customizable Expert Advisor is a fully automated MT4 robot that reads four classic indicators together (Moving Average, CCI, ATR and Williams %R). It opens and closes trades by itself. Nearly every rule behind those trades is an input you can change, including the entry and exit conditions and where the stop loss and take profit sit.
The open inputs are the reason to pick it, and they are also work you have to do. The default inputs are only a starting point, so plan on long sessions in the Strategy Tester before you have a set that fits your pair and your risk. Traders who enjoy optimizing won't mind. If you want a robot that runs well the moment you attach it to a chart, this one will take too long to set up.
It uses no martingale, grid or high-frequency trading, and normal spread and slippage don't affect it much. Start with EURUSD, GBPUSD or GBPJPY. The minimum balance is $100, and a VPS keeps it running without gaps.
The defaults are only a starting point. This EA is built to be optimized, and its default inputs are not a finished strategy. Backtest and optimize first, then run your set on demo for at least a week before you use real money. On a live account, change one or two inputs at a time.

How the four indicators work together
Each indicator reads a different part of the market. The EA trades when their readings meet the conditions you set. Once you know what each one measures, the inputs are much easier to tune.
- Moving Average shows which way the main trend leans.
- CCI measures how far price has moved from its average. Use it to spot momentum, or overbought and oversold conditions.
- Williams %R places the current price within its recent range.
- ATR measures volatility and gives you a reference for stop loss and take profit distances.
Optimizing without curve fitting
With four indicators and a long list of inputs, it is easy to find a set that looks great in a backtest and only fits the past. We suggest optimizing on several years of data while holding back a separate period the optimizer never sees. Then test the chosen set on that period.
Change a few inputs per round. Note what you changed each time. If the held-back results are much worse than the backtest, go back a step instead of adding more tweaks.
Who it suits
It suits traders who already know the MT4 Strategy Tester and want to understand why their robot enters a trade, because testing takes real time. If you need an EA that runs on ready-made settings, the AutoFXRebate library has better choices for that.
It is also a good EA to learn optimization on. With no martingale or grid, an unfinished set will not have its losses multiplied while you work on it.

Results depend on the set you build, so judge your own set rather than the defaults. After optimizing, run it on demo for at least one to two weeks, longer if it trades rarely. Log the deepest drawdown, the number of trades, and your average win against your average loss. Compare those figures with the backtest. A wide gap usually means the set is fitted too closely to past data.

- Unzip the package and copy the EA file into MQL4/Experts; the How to install MT4 files PDF in the package covers each step
- Restart MetaTrader 4, turn on AutoTrading and tick Allow live trading in the EA properties
- Open EURUSD, GBPUSD or GBPJPY and run the EA in the Strategy Tester with default inputs to get a baseline
- Optimize a few inputs at a time on several years of data, then test the result on the period you kept out of the optimization
- Run the chosen set on a demo account on a VPS for at least one to two weeks and log drawdown and trade count
