Equity
هذا المحتوى متاح حاليًا باللغة الإنجليزية فقط.
Equity is your account's value right now: balance plus or minus floating profit or loss. It counts every open position. Free margin and margin level are both worked out from equity, not from the balance.
Equity is the number to watch while trades are open. The margin and stop out lesson shows how it drives free margin and margin level.
How equity is calculated
Equity = balance + floating profit or loss
Your balance counts only closed trades, deposits and withdrawals. Floating means not yet realised: the result each open trade would have if you closed it now.
On MetaTrader 5, equity also adds any credit the broker has given you and deducts commission charged on open positions. With no trades open and no credit, equity equals the balance.
A worked example
With round illustrative prices, your balance is $1,000 and you buy 0.50 lot of EUR/USD at 1.10000, where each pip is worth $5. The price then falls 50 pips to 1.09500.
The floating loss is $250, so equity is $750 while the balance is still $1,000.
With $550 of margin locked, free margin is $750 minus $550 = $200. The margin level is $750 ÷ $550 × 100% = 136.4%.
If you close the trade there, the loss is realised. The balance drops to $750 and now matches equity.
أسئلة شائعة
What is the difference between balance and equity?
Balance counts only closed trades, deposits and withdrawals. Equity adds the floating result of open trades, so it shows what the account is worth right now.
Why is my equity lower than my balance?
Your open trades are showing a net loss. The gap closes when you close them or when they move back into profit.
Leverage multiplies losses as well as gains; only trade money you can afford to lose.
مصطلحات أخرى في هذا الفصل
LeverageLeverage is the ratio between the size of a position and the margin needed to open it. At 1:100, each $1 of margin controls $100 of position. Leverage sets how much margin a trade locks, not how much each pip is worth.
MarginMargin is the part of your account set aside as a deposit for an open leveraged trade. It equals the position's value divided by your leverage. It is not a fee, and it is released when the trade closes.
Margin callA margin call is a warning that your margin level has hit the broker's threshold. Your open trades are thinly covered, but it does not close them by itself. If losses continue to the stop out level, the broker closes them.
Stop outStop out is the margin level at which your broker starts closing your positions. The biggest loser usually goes first, because equity no longer covers the margin they need. The exact level depends on the broker and the account type.
