Account balance

이 내용은 현재 영어로만 제공됩니다.

Your balance is the money in your account from deposits, withdrawals and closed trades. It does not move with open positions. Their floating profit or loss is counted in equity instead, so balance and equity differ while trades are open.

AutoFXRebate

Your balance is the settled part of your account. The margin and stop out lesson shows it next to equity and margin on a live trade.

What changes your balance

The balance moves only when money is settled: deposits, withdrawals and the profit or loss of trades you close. MetaTrader treats it as the money in the account without the results of open positions.

The floating result of open trades shows up in equity instead. That is why the two numbers differ whenever a trade is open.

Balance versus equity: an example

With round illustrative prices and costs left out, you deposit $1,000, so your balance is $1,000. You buy 0.50 lot of EUR/USD at 1.10000, where each pip is worth $5.

The pair rises 50 pips. Your balance is still $1,000, but equity is $1,250 because of the $250 floating profit.

Close the trade there and the profit is realised: the balance becomes $1,250, matching equity.

Margin level and free margin are worked out from equity, not the balance. During a losing trade, the balance alone can make an account look safer than it is.

자주 묻는 질문

Can my account balance go negative?

It can if a sharp price gap makes a stop out close trades at a loss larger than the account. With negative balance protection the broker resets it to zero; without it, you may owe the difference.

Why does my balance not change when a trade is in profit?

The balance records only settled results. An open trade's profit is floating, so it shows in equity until you close the trade.

Leverage multiplies losses as well as gains; only trade money you can afford to lose.
