How the consistency rule works
Many prop firms want profit spread over several days rather than one lucky trade. A 30% rule means your best day may be at most 30% of your total profit when you ask for a payout or a pass.
If you break it, the fix is more profit on other days. If you pass, the calculator shows how much one more day can make before it becomes the new best day that breaks the rule.
Best day share = best day ÷ total profitMost for tomorrow = rule × total ÷ (1 − rule)Profit needed = best day ÷ rule − total
Questions
What is the 30% consistency rule?
No single day may account for more than 30% of the total profit. With 5,000 in profit, the best day may be at most 1,500.
Why do prop firms use it?
To pay traders who make money steadily rather than through one oversized bet. A firm risks its own capital on the pattern it sees in your results.
Do all firms use the same percentage?
No. Common values are 20%, 30%, 40% and 50%, and some firms count only the evaluation phase. Read your firm's rules for the exact definition.
