Where the rates come from
Each rate is the mid price, halfway between bid and ask, read from partner brokers' MT5 servers every 5 minutes. Pairs without a direct quote are worked out through the US dollar.
Banks and card issuers add a margin on top of this rate, so the amount you receive when you change money is usually lower.
Mid = (bid + ask) ÷ 2A to B = (A in USD) ÷ (B in USD)
Questions
What is the mid-market rate?
The midpoint between the buying and selling price. It is the fairest reference rate, but no one actually trades at it.
How often are rates updated?
Every 5 minutes while the market is open. At the weekend they show the last prices before Friday's close.
Why only these currencies?
The converter only shows currencies our partner brokers quote on MT5, so every rate is a real market price rather than a reference rate from a third party.
