How the comparison works
Volume comes from the same rule as the lot size calculator: the amount at risk divided by the stop loss and the pip value. The streak column compounds three losses on the shrinking balance.
The monthly figure is an expectation, not a forecast: trades per month times the average result of one trade at your win rate and reward to risk.
Expected per month = trades × (win rate × R:R − (1 − win rate)) × amount at riskKelly % = win rate − (1 − win rate) ÷ R:R
Questions
What risk per trade should I use?
Most professionals stay between 0.5% and 2%. Start at the low end until your win rate and reward to risk are proven over at least a few dozen trades.
What is the Kelly criterion?
A formula for the share of capital that grows an account fastest, if the win rate and reward to risk are known exactly. They never are, so traders use a fraction of it.
Should I increase volume as the account grows?
Yes, by keeping the same risk percentage. The volume then grows with the balance and shrinks automatically during a drawdown.
Trade the same, pay less
Every lot you trade pays spread or commission. Open your account through AutoFXRebate and the broker pays part of that cost back to you as a rebate.
