How pip value is calculated
A pip is 0.0001 for most pairs and 0.01 for pairs quoted in yen. For gold and silver this site counts a pip as 0.01. A point is the smallest step a 5 or 3 digit price can make, one tenth of a pip.
The value of a pip is in the quote currency, the second one in the pair. When that differs from your account currency it is converted at the live rate.

Why is a pip on EUR/USD worth 10 USD?
One standard lot is 100,000 euros. A move of 0.0001 in the price changes its value by 100,000 × 0.0001 = 10 US dollars.
Why does pip value change for USD/JPY?
The pip is worth 1,000 yen per lot, and the dollar value of 1,000 yen moves with the USD/JPY rate.
What are mini and micro lots?
A mini lot is 0.1 lot (10,000 units) and a micro lot 0.01 lot (1,000 units). Enter them as 0.1 or 0.01 in the volume field.
