Economic calendar
Upcoming economic releases with forecast, previous and actual values.
The calendar loads from tradays.com, a service by MetaQuotes, the company behind MT4 and MT5.
Impact levels
- High impact
- Central bank rate decisions, inflation, jobs reports and GDP. These can move major pairs by dozens of pips within minutes, and spreads often widen around them.
- Medium impact
- Retail sales, business surveys and housing data. They move the market when the result is far from the forecast.
- Low impact
- Minor releases and speeches. They rarely move prices on their own.
How to use the calendar
Check the high impact events for the currencies you trade before you open a position. A stop loss placed just before a release can be hit by a spike and filled further away than planned.
What moves price is the surprise: how far the actual figure lands from the forecast, not whether the number is good or bad.
Questions
Should I trade during news releases?
Only with a plan. Spreads widen, orders can fill at worse prices and price can move both ways within seconds. Many traders close or protect positions before high impact releases.
What do actual, forecast and previous mean?
Actual is the released figure, forecast the average expectation of economists, and previous the figure from the last release, sometimes revised.
Which time zone does the calendar use?
Your browser's time zone by default. You can change it inside the calendar.
Trade the same, pay less
Every lot you trade pays spread or commission. Open your account through AutoFXRebate and the broker pays part of that cost back to you as a rebate.
