What is a forex rebate?

A forex rebate is money paid back to you for every lot you trade. It comes from the commission a broker pays the partner who introduced your account, and that partner passes some or all of it back. You trade the same way at the same spread, and the cash arrives per closed lot.

Every trade costs something before it makes a cent. You pay the spread, and on some accounts a commission per lot, win or lose. A forex rebate hands part of that cost back for each lot you trade.

The idea is simple. Brokers pay partners who bring them clients. A rebate service is one of those partners, and it passes most or all of that payment back to the person who actually did the trading.

What a forex rebate actually is

A rebate is a fixed payment per lot traded. If your rate on a pair is $8.10 per lot, a 1 lot trade earns $8.10, a 0.10 lot trade earns $0.81, and 10 lots across a month earn $81.00.

It does not care whether you made or lost money. A losing trade and a winning trade of the same size earn the same rebate, because both paid the same spread.

Think of it as a partial refund on a cost you were going to pay anyway. Your strategy, your platform and your account type stay as they are. Only the net cost of each trade goes down.

Rebate, cashback and other names for the same thing

You will meet the same idea under several labels. "Rebate" and "cashback" are the usual English words, and some sites say "IB rebate". Vietnamese traders call it "backcom", short for back commission.

The label does not change the mechanics. In every case you get back part of the introducing commission that the broker pays for your account.

Why it is counted per lot

A lot is the standard unit of trade size. One standard lot of EUR/USD is 100,000 euros. If lot sizes are new to you, read what a lot is first, then come back.

Brokers pay their partners per lot, so a rebate is per lot too. That makes it easy to check: multiply the rate by the lots you closed, and compare the result with what arrived.

A worked example with a real rate

On 29 October 2026, the XM rebate page listed $8.10 per lot for EUR/USD on the XM Standard account. Here is an example month built on that rate.

Trade sizeTradesLotsRebate at $8.10 per lot
0.10 lot202.0$16.20
0.50 lot105.0$40.50
1.00 lot33.0$24.30
Total3310.0$81.00

To redo it yourself: 20 trades of 0.10 lot make 2.0 lots, and 2.0 × $8.10 = $16.20. Add the three rows and you get 10.0 lots and $81.00. This is an example, not a forecast.

Bars showing the rebate at $8.10 per lot for 0.10, 1, 5 and 10 lots: $0.81, $8.10, $40.50 and $81.00.

Some rates are a percentage instead of a dollar amount. On the Exness Standard account the rebate is 40% of the spread. The Exness page put that at about $3.20 per lot of EUR/USD on the same date.

Rates come from each broker's partner schedule and change when the broker changes its terms. Check the broker page before you build plans on a number.

Who pays the rebate

Not you, and not out of thin air. The broker earns from the spread and commission on your trades. It pays a share of that to the introducing broker (IB), the partner whose link or code opened your account.

The IB then returns some or all of that share to you, and how much depends on the IB. AutoFXRebate returns 100% of its IB commission at Exness and 90% at XM, paid by the broker into your trading account.

A chain of three boxes: the broker pays an IB commission to the IB partner, and the IB partner passes a rebate on to you.

The next lesson, where rebates come from, follows that money step by step and shows why your spread stays the same.

What a rebate is not

A rebate is not a bonus. A deposit bonus is usually trading credit with conditions attached, while a rebate is cash for volume you have already traded. Rebate vs bonus shows why that matters when you withdraw.

It is not a profit source on its own either. It lowers the cost of trading. A strategy that loses more than its costs still loses, just a little more slowly.

Who notices it most

The rate per lot is the same at any size, but the total grows with volume. Active traders feel it first: scalpers, day traders, and anyone running an expert advisor that trades all day.

It also matters more on accounts where the spread is the main cost, which the Spread Checker measures for each account type. A rebate on a wide spread account can close much of the gap to a tighter, more expensive account type.

Questions

Is a forex rebate the same as cashback?

Yes. Both words describe money returned per lot out of the commission the broker pays the introducing partner on your account.

Do I get a rebate on losing trades?

Yes. The rebate is counted on closed volume, not on profit, so a losing lot earns the same as a winning lot of the same size.

Does a rebate change my spread or trading conditions?

It should not. At Exness and XM, spread, leverage and execution are set by the broker for each account type, and the partner attached to the account does not change them.

Where is the rebate paid?

That depends on the service. With AutoFXRebate the broker pays it straight into your trading account, where you can withdraw it or keep trading with it.

How do I estimate my own rebate?

Multiply the rate for your pair and account type by the lots you expect to close. Each broker page lists current rates and has a rebate calculator.

Chapter 1Where do forex rebates come from?A forex rebate comes from the introducing commission a broker pays the partner who referred your account. That commission is funded by the spread and fees you already pay. The partner passes part or all of it back to you, so you pay nothing extra and your trading conditions stay as they are.Chapter 1Rebate vs bonus: what is the difference?A rebate is cash returned for every lot you trade, paid into your balance and withdrawable like any other money. A deposit bonus is usually trading credit sized to your deposit, often with a volume target before any of it can be withdrawn, and it can be removed when you take money out.Chapter 1How does a rebate lower your breakeven point?Every trade starts slightly behind, because you pay the spread and any commission the moment you open it. A rebate returns part of that cost per lot, so the net cost is smaller and price needs to travel fewer pips before the trade pays for itself. Here is how to work it out with real rates.Chapter 1How do you move a forex account to a new IB?Moving an account to a new introducing broker changes one thing: the partner the broker pays commission to. Your balance, open positions, spread and leverage stay where they are. Brokers usually offer two routes, a partner change on the existing account or a new account opened under the new partner.Chapter 1What are the red flags of a forex rebate service?A sound rebate service only needs your account number to track volume, and the broker pays the rebate into your trading account. Warning signs are requests for your trading password, offers to hold your money, rates with no stated source, slow or unexplained payouts, and pressure to deposit through a private wallet.Chapter 1Forex rebates cheat sheet.A forex rebate returns part of the commission your broker pays the introducing partner, per lot you trade.
